  Northlight Baptist Church has been an immense blessing in my life, as I moved into the town of Athabasca without knowing many people. This group of people have truly become family, and every week they encourage me to keep close to Jesus. There is an emphasis on "sound doctrine", knowing what the Bible teaches about God, relationships, possessions, our attitudes, etc., and on living out the "Great Commission" to tell everyone about Jesus and His sacrifice on our behalf.

  The love and unity of the people at Northlight Baptist Church is amazing; the people go out of their way to be a help and encouragement to others. It truly is a great honour to be the founding pastor. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

  God speaks through His word, His people, prayer, and circumstances...There are no coincidences with God, in my humble opinion..I believe God lined all of the above up, so I could fellowship at the Northlight Baptist Church...For those reading this post, the most important question to ask- Where will you spend eternity? Only "you" can decide, if you want to spend eternity in Heaven or eternity in Hell...Eternity is forever! Examine yourselves... John 3:16

  My family and I moved to Athabasca over two years ago. After doing some research for churches in the area we decided to visit this small assembly and hoped and prayed that the preaching would be powerful, the people would be genuine, but most importantly that the bible was preached expositionally, the Gospel is known and unpacked every time we meet together. That the teaching would be definitively clear and that Jesus Christ and His word was the center of all activities within the body. This is exactly what we found. God has placed together a people of like mind where fellowship is real and Christ focused, the Word is given honor and due respect, sin is confronted, taken seriously and repented of, and humility is cultivated while looking to conform ourselves, day by day, minute by minute to Christ's likeness through the power of the Holy Spirit to the honor and glory of God the Father.

  My family and I have been attending Northlight Baptist Church for over 3 years. When searching for a church we were looking for biblical teaching, discerning leaders and a group of people living out their faith in a real way. We found these things and much more in this assembly. We believe so strongly in the importance of "watching our life and doctrine closely" that we travel an hour every week to attend and are encouraged each visit to stay on course and fight the good fight. We are immensely grateful for this church and we are excited to see how the Lord will continue to use this assembly to reach Athabasca and the surrounding communities.
